List Your Business or Service

As you may be aware the Thousand Islands Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society has established and maintains a web site specifically oriented to the interest of our members and wooden boat enthusiasts as a whole. The web site is created and maintained by professionals in that field.

These services are offered free of charge to our members and others interested in wooden boats. Our membership contributes these services to increase the interest in the preservation and history of wooden boats in the Thousand Islands region.

Finding suppliers of goods and services focused on antique and classic boats is difficult. To enhance the ability of our members to access these services and broaden the general knowledge of what is available to them within the region we invite you as a business related to antique boats to participate. We are planning on a "LOCAL SERVICES" folder on our website which will then have "tabs" alphabetically organized for each of the businesses who contribute. These index tabs will allow the viewer to "click" on the tab and then go to either/or:

1. a listing on your business with a web page of specifics and several photographs. Any proprietary graphics of company logos can be incorporated with your permission.

2. provide a direct link to a web site which your business or a host manages on your behalf. This will obviously increase the readership and access to your site.

You nor your business need be a member of either the Antique and Classic Boat Society or the Thousand Islands Chapter. Of course we would appreciate it if you would join us. We have set a very nominal fee of $50 US to cover the costs of formatting and creation. When you contact us we will organize a visit to photograph you, your business in action and any examples of your workmanship you would like to include. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words.

While we do not dictate a specific format for the enclosure we would suggest as a minimum you include:

  • The registered name of the business and your physical address, not a PO Box.
  • A mini map on how to locate your business.
  • Description of the goods and services you provide to the antique and wooden boat community.
  • Specific areas of expertise e.g. wooden boat restoration and conservation, mechanical, electrical, new builds (reproductions).
  • Do you provide engine and mechanical services such a rebuilding and a machine shop?
  • Types of boat you work on e.g. St. Lawrence Skiff, power etc.?
  • Make of boat you specialize in e.g. Garwood, HackerCraft?
  • Maximum boat size your shop can handle?
  • Do you offer winter storage?
  • Number of employees?
  • Years of experience?
  • Do you have a ships store where supplies are sold?
  • Describe your typical methods e.g. traditional wood bottoms, traditional methods with modern materials or epoxy impregnated lay-up.
If you have a good photograph of 1 or 2 boats that you have worked on we can scan these into a web format. Please include a description of the work you provided for the boat in the picture.

We trust we have adequately described our proposal. We are anxious to get working on it so we can have some coverage before the fall and winter haul-out seasons. Needless-to-say the sooner you get information to us the sooner we can add your business.

Should you have any questions or wish to arrange for a photography session please call.

Yours truly,
Dave Richardson
