The 32nd Annual Vintage Boat Show

                              Alexandria Bay, New York

July 17, 18 and 19,  2009

Saturday, July 18, 2009 is the day!  Let’s all get together and become involved in a fun show.   This is a “user boat show” as well as “museum quality boat show”.  Boat entries are open to members of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS), as well as non members.  For those non members, we encourage you to join the Thousand Island Chapter so you too, can enjoy and participate in the other activities throughout the summer.   So let’s get those oldies but goodies out of the boat houses and down to the Alex Bay Village dock.

The show “schedule” is the same as last year; however, the shows “dates” have been revised from previous years to avoid conflict with other large activities in the area which has seemed to have had a negative effect on our attendance.  The 2009 Cocktail Party, open to the public, will begin on Friday July 17, at the Yacht House, 6:30-8:30pm ($17.50 pp), which is the second (2nd) weekend after the 4th of July, rather than the 1st weekend after the 4th of July.  On Sat. July 18, 7:30-9:00 boater’s check-in and late registration concludes. At 9:00-3:30, the Boat Show is open to the public.  At around 3:30pm, I’d like to have as many boaters as possible, participate in a mini boat show parade.  The plan is to systematically leave the city dock, drive toward Cherry Island and then turn back to cruise past Casino Island, The River Hospital, Thompsons Motel and the Bonny Castle.  At that point boaters disperse to their individual destinations.  (Instructions and map will be provided at the show). The following day, Sunday, July 19 at 9:30am, doors open at Bonnie Castle to check in for the brunch ($15 pp) and awards ceremony, which begins at 10:00am.

An application form for the boat entries is mailed to all members and also to those non members on record, who have participated in the show within the last three years.  Although we have excellent coverage in the local Alexandria Bay area, please extend an invitation to your friends and neighbors in surrounding areas about the event.  As said before:  You cannot have a successful boat show without visitors and boats!  Please-Please register and mail in your entry forms early, so we can plan our space more efficiently.

Here’s an additional news flash about the new show dates.  Our boat show now coincides (not conflicts) with the Alexandria Bay Arts and Crafts Show held at the Park Pavilion near River Hospital.  Hopefully these coinciding events will create an attendance synergy for both.  For the boaters during the event, a pleasant stroll to the park to stretch your legs may result in the purchase of a nice gift for someone, while the visitors to the Craft Show may also enjoy visiting our venders and then stroll along the village dock to view some beautiful wooden boats.

Those interested in setting up a Land Display and Vendors as well, should contact Alex Mosher at treasureislands@yahoo.com or (315) 482-2294.  The nominal fee for Land Displays and Vendors is $20.  Wooden boat owners are encouraged to register and submit the $20 registration as early as possible.  Checks should be payable to the ACBS TI Chapter and mailed to Robert Lloyd, Show Chairman, P.O. Box 800, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607.  (251)621-7445 or (315) 486-7452c

You may download an entry form below! Please register early, it makes our dock plan much easier to arrange.
